A list of the Las Vegas born band, The Killers most captivating and unique songs.
The Las Vegas rockers, The Killers, made their mainstream debut in 2004, with the release of their widely successful album, "Hot Fuss". The band has quickly become a predominant force in alternative music, because of their unique musical style and constantly progressing sound. Within only five years, The Killers have released four platinum selling albums, were awarded two BRIT Awards, and received over seven Grammy Award nominations. Here is a list of five of the platinum-selling band's most creative songs: "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine"From the band's debut album, "Hot Fuss", released in 2004. “Jenny Was a Friend of Mine” is one of the more alternative sounding songs off of the band’s debut album. The song‘s industrial style rhythm is remarkable with its hypnotic blend of synthesizer and bass guitar beats; creating a powerful melody that helps to bring a surprising depth to the songs simple and repetitive lyrics. "Bling (Confessions of a King)"From the band's second album, "Sam's Town", released in 2006. The song, “Bling (Confessions of a King)” contains an extremely unique sound; a bizarre, nevertheless, brilliant mix of “old western” style guitar riffs blended with 80’s pop synthesizer beats. Its imaginative rhythm collaborated with the whimsical sound of Brandon Flowers’ voice, instills a daydream like quality in the inventive track. "Bones"From the band's second album, "Sam's Town", released in 2006. The song, “Bones”, is a perfect example of the bands lyrical progression, from writing repetitive pop-style hits to more intricate and edgy alternative-style gems. The edgy track’s inventive lyrics were written by the band’s lead vocalist, bass guitarist, and drummer: Brandon Flowers, Mark Stroemer, and Ronnie Vannucci. "Tranquilize" featuring, Lou ReedFrom the band's compilation album, “Sawdust", released in 2007 “Tranquilize” is one of the most intricately developed songs that The Killers have ever created. The song’s rhythmical lyrics were written by the band’s lead singer, Brandon Flowers and features back-up vocals by, legendary musician, Lou Reed. The contrasting sound of Flowers’ smooth, velvet-like voice with Lou Reed’s deep and ragged tones is absolutely mesmerizing; helping to create the song’s matchless, hypnotic sound. The awe-inspiring song received critical acclaim at the 2008 NME Music Awards and was awarded Best Alternative Track of the Year. "A Crippling Blow"From the band's latest studio album, "Day & Age", released in late October of 2008. “A Crippling Blow” is featured on the bonus tracks to The Killers 2008 album, “Day & Age”. The song’s pulsating drum beats and whimsical chorus, creates an interesting dark, yet, capricious sound; similar to another The Killers track, “Bones”. The Killers’ imitable musical style, constantly evolving sound, and lead singer, Brandon Flowers’ captivating voice, have secured the Las Vegas band’s place, as a predominant force in alternative music. The songs on this list were only five out of many great songs that the band has created over years.
