Paramore: New Album, 2009 Tour with No DoubtTennesse Quartet Enter the Studio to Follow up 2007's Smash, Riot!
A prime slot opening for No Doubt on their 2009 arena tour is fast approaching as Paramore look to capitalize with a new record, and attract more fans.
Paramore are home in Tennessee working hard on their next record even with an impending deadline of a new tour kicking off in May. Can the band build on the success of their last record or fall prey to the many pressures that accompany a band still on the rise? They're in the studio, and blogging about it. "I locked my keys in my car...got a ticket for parking in a handicap space...missed my court date for that...and I'm stuck here at home, " blogs Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams on her band's website, paramore.net. It's rare for an artist to be so human or accessible to her fans, but the formula has proven integral to the band's meteoric rise behind strong melodic song-crafting and Williams' electric stage presence. Fans are able to respond to posts made by members of Paramore, and what they're looking forward to is their third album coming on the heels of the platinum selling, Riot!, as well as their next tour trek accompanying No Doubt. Too much pressure for their Third Album?"We have a HUGE time crunch for this record because we are heading out on the No Doubt tour, which is so sweet!" writes guitar player Josh Farro. He must mean the tour will be sweet, not the time crunch, which comes at a crucial point for the Tennessee quartet as the third album is often the most critical for a band's future. The anticipation for the record is evident on Paramore's Myspace page as the newest tracks posted there, "Decode" (featured on the Twilight soundtrack currently at #18 on the Billboard 200) and "Crush, crush, crush" (live from the Final Riot! Tour) are up to 47.8 million and 3.7 million hits respectively. Clearly people are paying attention. They'll be given an excellent venue to try out their new material on an arena tour with a reuniting No Doubt. Gwen Stefani vs Hayley WilliamsThe similarities in front women are easily evident: Williams displays much of the same crowd command, charisma, and flayling acrobatics as the now iconic Gwen Stefani. The most interesting scenario rising from the tour (which is slated to begin May 3rd at New Jersey's Bamboozle Festival) may end up being how much of a scene stealer Hayley Williams and the rest of her quite capable mates become and if there could have been any better or easier decision for No Doubt than including the burgeoning rockstars and their rabid following along for the ride. Building on Success and grocery shoppingIn any event, it may be a good idea to bring food to the venue, and not to avoid venue level prices for edibles, but for Paramore (as their fans often do anyway). "There's nothing to eat here but one pack of Ramen. No, really," Hayley again writing to lament her lack of a ride and food. The picture posted underneath her blog entry is proof. Hardly a kitchen that's in line for the next episode of "Cribs," but that's indicative of the band's style, human and in touch.
